Last call for the MIRAGE (and more) shows

Hard to believe that the MIRAGE (and more) shows are almost upon us. Just in case you haven’t heard, we’ll be playing Fleetwood Mac’s 1982 album MIRAGE in its entirety - along with some choice Mac and solo Lindsey gems tomorrow (Friday) at Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia and this Saturday at Littlefield in Brooklyn. If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, we suggest doing so now. They’re going fast. Honest. For serious.

Tix for Philly here. Tix for Brooklyn here.

A few homeroom announcements then we’ll let you go.

First, don’t sleep on the openers. Pete Donnelly (of the Figgs, NRBQ, and Soul Asylum) in Philly; “multi-faceted entertainer” Dave Hill in Brooklyn. Both well-worth paying the babysitter for an extra hour. Pete’s on at 9:15 (we hit at 10:15), Dave’s on at 8:30 (we hit at 9:30).

Second, the amazing New York-based artist Jess Rotter has designed a sweet flyer/poster for the shows which you can view here. Jess has also produced an exclusive limited edition print to be sold only at these shows. We’re not going to give away the print design, but trust us, it’s amazing. Or, should we say, “perfect.” Jess has a cool line of ’70s themed rock apparel at her website, RotterAndFriends.com.

Lastly, remember how Schlitz sponsored the MIRAGE tour (proof)? In the interest of keeping it real, we have a beer sponsor for our show at Johnny Brenda’s: Downingtown, Pa.’s own Victory Brewing. It is a damn fine beer. Much better than Schlitz.

That’s all for everyone. See you at the shows.

A brief update on the MIRAGE (and more) shows

Hard to believe that our MIRAGE (and more) shows are fast approaching.

In case you forgot, we’ll be performing the MIRAGE album in its entirety - along with some other choice Mac & Lindsey solo gems - Friday, February 17 at Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia with special guest Pete Donnelly, and Saturday, February 18 at Littlefield in Brooklyn with special guest Dave Hill, the One Man Heat-Bringing Machine.

Tickets are going fast. Honest. Get tix for Philly here, and Brooklyn here.

We’ve been doing ever-so-quiet living room rehearsals in Philly to get the harmonies just so. We were doing as much one night until we paused long enough to take the photos you see here. Next week, we plug in.

A few of you have asked about the “and more” portion of the show. We don’t want to let the cat out of the bag, but we’ll disclose this much: we’re doing two songs off of Tango in the Night, and three “Christine” songs. Because you have NO IDEA how close this came to being called The Christine McVie Appreciation Society. No idea…

Hope to see you at the shows!

Any requests?

In addition to playing the MIRAGE album in its entirety at Johnny Brenda’s in Philly Feb. 17 and Littlefield in Brooklyn on Feb. 18, we’ll be doing some other Mac & Lindsey solo gems.

So, any requests?

Opener for Philly: Pete Donnelly

Pete Donnelly, a member of the inimitable Figgs (who backed Graham Freakin’ Parker for a spell!), the legendary NRBQ, and veteran alt-rockers Soul Asylum will be opening our show at Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia on Friday, February 17.

Pete’s a fine solo artist in his own right with a brand new album out called When You Come Home. Check out Pete’s website for more info.

Tickets on sale now for Philly and Brooklyn

Happy to announce that tickets are now on sale for the MIRAGE (and more) shows, Feb. 17 at Johnny Brenda’s in Philly, and Feb. 18 at Littlefield in Brooklyn.

Get tix for Philly here, and get tix for Brooklyn here.

To recap, we’ll be performing the MIRAGE album in its entirety, along with some other Mac and solo Lindsey gems for one big fat night of great music.

We’ll be announcing openers for each show soon. Attempts to get Men at Work, who opened the 1982 MIRAGE tour in the U.S., have proved unsuccessful so far.

The Lindsey Buckingham Appreciation Society returns to perform ‘Mirage’ in its entirety… and more

Nearly two years after they performed Lindsey Buckingham’s enduring creative statement, the 1979 Fleetwood Mac double-album TUSK, at shows in Boston, Brooklyn, and Philadelphia - joyous gigs that pleased both the old heads in faded Buckingham-Nicks bootleg tees and young’uns probably conceived while RUMOURS spun in the background - indie rock not-so-supergroup THE LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM APPRECIATION SOCIETY returns to perform Fleetwood Mac’s 1982 album MIRAGE in its entirety, along with select Mac and solo Buckingham gems at two shows: Friday, February 17 at Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia, and Saturday, February 18 at Littlefield in Brooklyn.

For these performances, the six-person Philadelphia-based collective will feature returning members Charlie Hall (vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who has played with Jens Lekman, The War on Drugs, Windsor for the Derby, Tommy Guerrero and others), Patrick Berkery (drummer for Danielson, Pernice Brothers, Bigger Lovers, Photon Band, I Was a King, Mazarin and others), and singer-songwriter Birdie Busch. They will be joined by new members/fellow Lindsey-Mac obsessives Eliza Hardy Jones (vocalist/keyboardist for Buried Beds), Brandon Beaver (guitarist/vocalist for Buried Beds), and Dave Wayne Daniels (bassist/vocalist for The Capitol Years).

As for why the group is tackling MIRAGE, an album known for its dawn-of-MTV staples “Gypsy” and “Hold Me,” but generally overlooked in evaluations of the Lindsey-Stevie era canon, Hall says: “MIRAGE is a trove of wonders - some of the strongest Mac songs in the canon as well as some total head scratchers and ones that I never realized how great they are. It’s neither the ”Rumours II” as some claimed nor was it a repository for discarded solo songs as others claimed.  There’s sheen for sure and there’s mystery and beauty through and through. It’s got everything. This is a gorgeous record that is deserving of more attention and appreciation.”

The Lindsey Buckingham Appreciation Society is not a tribute act and does not perform in costume. The band features no defined character roles and is more a loving exploration of Lindsey Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac’s music than a verbatim reproduction.
